Millholland Planetarium Title

Catawba Science Center is proud to announce the opening of its state-of-the-art, 65-seat digital planetarium theater.

The Millholland Planetarium features a full-dome digital technology –MEDIAGLOBE 3-D, created by Konica Minolta of Japan – and a powerful surround sound system to truly transport audiences beyond the confines of Earth.

Visitors to Catawba Science Center’s new planetarium will be immersed in giant-screen 30-foot dome images of the surface of the Sun, Mars and beyond to the nearest galaxies.

Explore the rings of Saturn, volcanoes, the depths of the ocean, the human body and more!

Tuesday – Thursday - 3:30 p.m.
Friday - 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Saturday - 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Sunday - 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

  Kaluoka‘hina: The Enchanted Reef

This animated feature film transports viewers to a tropical reef hidden in the vast oceans of our planet where the depths of the seas guard fascinating secrets.

One of the most precious is "Kaluoka'hina,” a tropical coral reef -- an enchantment lies over this peaceful place: mankind cannot find it. The reef's colorful inhabitants have always lived in paradisiacal peace, until a volcanic catastrophe breaks the spell...

Now it's up to Jake, a young sawfish, and his buddy Shorty, a lively reef fish, to restore the magic of their home Kaluoka'hina. Their only lead: an ancient legend that tells of touching the moon... But how is a fish supposed to touch the moon?

This is just one of the intriguing puzzles that Jake and Shorty will have to solve on their most exciting adventure ever… the quest to save their beloved reef.
